Practicum

NGPRD students have to undergo a 2-month practicum in order to become certified mentors and obtain their Master’s degree.

The practicum provide a realistic setting to help candidates put their understanding of mentoring principles into real practice. Therefore it provides an ideal opportunity for candidates to reinforce what they have learned during classroom discussions and research.

To learn more, please download our guidelines.

Like our syllabus and our other procedures, those guidelines are updated on a yearly basis, to better take our students’ experience into account. For you information, you can download some of the previous versions here:

Practicum 2023-2024

The NGPRC has also implemented a virtual practicum to face the Covid-19 crisis. From that experience we develop the habit to start the practicum with one or two weeks of simulations and role-play. This ensures that the trainees master some basic skills before they meet their first mentees. They feel more confident as a result and the whole process is much smoother.

The NGPRD provides also mentoring tools, such as observation forms, templates of lesson plans etc. to facilitate classroom observations and enhance the work of the mentees. You can download those tools here.
